And the hits just keep on comin' at Wal-Mart

In an earlier posting, I mentioned Wal-Mart's hiring of civil rights leader Andrew Young as a spokesperson for the company as it expanded into urban areas. You just knew this was going to turn out badly, especially when Young compared Wal-Mart to Jesus.

Well, don't say I didn't tell ya so. Here's an excerpt of an article in Bulldog Reporter from today:

Civil Rights Leader Andrew Young—Brought In By Wal-Mart Media Group For Image Restoration—Resigns After Denigrating Immigrant-Run Shops
If you’re a company always under attack like Wal-Mart, the last thing you want your civil-rights-diplomat spokesperson doing is adding insult to injury by bad-mouthing the small-shop owners you’re driving out of business—not to mention condescending to them with racial slurs. But that’s just what happened with all-star civil rights leader Andrew Young, who resigned as chairman of Working Families for Wal-Mart, a group intended to boost the retailer’s image after he made remarks to a newspaper disparaging Jewish, Arab and Korean shop owners, Reuters reports.
