Social Media Twitch on Twitter
Okay, now we're so obsessed with our social network that we need to tell all our friends what we're up to at every waking or sleeping moment. Twitter takes instant messaging to a desperate level by giving us a way of letting people know what we're doing: "eating a bagel" or "thinking about inertia." It'll keep your posse from having any time to meet other people because they'll be too busy keeping up with you. Like a social GPS, it could be a fun way to let your best buds or fam know your immediate whereabouts and the state of mind. But I doubt others will care.
Anyway, headed into my performance review . . .

Read about Twitter in James Lileks' column in the Strib the other day... Say, wasn't he "james r lileks" back in the day?! (Oops, my age is showing.) Anyhoo - right now: What Am I Doing? Well, I am getting ready to visit your office for an interview tomorrow, that's what I'm doing. Im also trying to figure out how to distinguish myself from all the other hopefuls with their "HIRE ME" signs flashing. Maybe I should wear my cheesehead? Just kiss-up a bit to the Packer Backers as i.d.'d on the Leadership Team page? Not subtle, I know...but charming! Or cheesy, literally & figuratively; take your pick. Anyhow (too funny, I just mistyped "anycow" after writing about cheese) ANYHOW, here's my objective: As the interview process, understandably, typically renders a candidate less outgoing or more inhibited than usual, which is completely & unfairly misconstrued as lacking in personality, I would like to shine a little light on me. My personality, that is. More pointedly, here are a few things I can contribute to PSB as inspired by the "Quirky Facts" site.
Cue: "Getting To Know You" whistle in the background....
Cat person +1 (my Esmeralda is 14).
Dog person +1 (my dog Chuy is named after a popular Baja beach bar/taqueria in Phoenix).
Strong advocate for Preferred Beverage +1 Margarita. Although, I also occasionally enjoy the Caipirinha...made with Brazilian distilled sugar cane known as Devil's Firewater. Sounds worse than it actually tastes, honestly! And in waxing rhapsodic (there is a pun in there somewhere, I am sure) about Brazilian libations...I should add that I graduated with a B.S. in Hospitality Management. Note how I did NOT say "I studied." I have found when people say that, it is because they did not graduate. Or is matriculate? I forget which.
Anyway.
Shine that light a little closer on my non-public tattoo +1 although it has revealed itself after its owner has imbibed (and said owner did NOT receive a ticket for indecent exposure, so maybe it is not actually non-public?).
Military Experience + 1/2 as my last boss was a retired Three-Star Vice Admiral who served under Presidents Clinton and Bush (43) as the head of the D.I.A. which is the C.I.A. side of the military (and I am not making this up).
I really like Dave Barry. I mean, I like his writing. Everytime I say, "I am not making this up," I think of him!!
Although technically I could +1 as an SUV Owner, I would rather state the case for adding a new category +1 Convertible Drivers - I have a Toyota Solara, I bought it because it has the biggest back seat AND trunk of all convertibles...and I really need that, being a mom who has to schlep around six-year-old twins. Twins who are boys. Boys who have a lot of stuff. And it's big, their stuff is big...fishing poles, skateboards, skis, helmets 'n' gear in giant bags. Times two. Which is why I NEED A JOB!!! These kids are expensive! They're puttin' us in the poorhouse!!
But I digress...
If hired, +1 to PSB Staffers.
(see ya tomorrow)
